Program Summary

After the OIS Opening, your student will go off with the OIS counselors and the other OIS participants to begin their program. Parents and other accompanying family or friends are invited to the parents’ orientation and reception. This informal gathering is designed to give parents a chance to ask questions and to learn the range of services that will be available to your international student during their time at Yale.

Parents who plan to accompany their children to New Haven should be aware that OIS participants will be fully occupied during the day and evening.  We will provide parents with information about activities and sightseeing in the New Haven area, but parents should note that between Tuesday afternoon, August 19 through Thursday, August 21 there are no scheduled activities for parents.  Programs for parents will resume on Friday, August 22 when Freshman Orientation begins.  In previous years, some parents have used these some days to visit New York or Boston.
